Our PE vision

‘For all children at Heyes Lane to experience excellent physical education, school sport and physical activity creating enthusiasm about physical activity; where every child feels confident and ready to participate, leading to lifelong enjoyment, participation and active lifestyle choices’.

 

 

We are dedicated to delivering high quality P.E through the National Curriculum programme of study.

 

KEY STAGE 1

In Key Stage 1 we will focus on the development of the following fundamental skills as individuals and in teams.

  • Develop agility, balance and coordination in a controlled way.
  • Master the basic movements of jumping, running, throwing and catching and their application within a range of challenging activities.
  • Start to develop simple tactics for attacking and defending.
  • Perform dances using simple movement patterns.

 

KEY STAGE 2

In Key Stage 2 we will continue to develop the skills introduced in Key Stage 1 further and focus on introducing the following key progressive elements.

  • The use of running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination within modified competitive games
  • Further develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance in a controlled way.
  • Perform dances using more complex movement patterns
  • Compare and evaluate performance and use feedback to demonstrate improvements to achieve their personal best.
