to Heyes Lane Primary School

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Heyes Lane Primary School. Having spent many years as part of the Heyes Lane community, I feel a deep sense of pride and commitment to the school and everything it stands for. After serving the school for a significant period of time, including many years as Deputy Headteacher, it has been a real privilege in recent years to take on the role of Headteacher and to lead this fantastic school into the next stage of its journey.

With extensive experience in education, much of it gained here at Heyes Lane, I know first‑hand what a truly special school we are. With confident, polite and articulate children, alongside enthusiastic, dynamic and engaging staff, we live by our ethos of being ‘an exceptional school for everyone’.

Our Values

An Active Approach

We take ownership of our learning and our work. Being active means thinking carefully, engaging fully and making thoughtful choices rather than being passive. Staff and children ask questions, explore ideas and stay involved in the learning process.

A Caring Nature

We act with kindness and empathy in everything we do. Staff and children show respect, look after one another and create a nurturing community where everyone feels safe and able to thrive.

A Connected Environment

We build strong relationships and work closely as a team. Everyone contributes to a culture where communication is open, support is shared and every person feels included, valued and part of something meaningful.

A Positive Mindset

We approach each day with optimism and a belief that we can improve. Staff and children support one another to embrace challenge, stay resilient and celebrate progress so that our school grows together.

A Creative Outlook

We look for new possibilities and think imaginatively. Staff model creative thinking and children are encouraged to explore ideas and express themselves, helping our school community to solve problems and innovate together.

Words are hard to describe Carters time at HLPS, but here goes. From his first day to his last week, we have nothing but praise for the school whether that’s support he’s been given in lessons, school work and the numerous after school clubs, a great cohort of teachers and staff that have helped him grow into a cheeky, confident clever little boy with a wild imagination. As a parent it’s never been easy to give your child over to strangers but the warmth, safe, caring environment and vibes around HLPS made that transition easier as he moved through the years.

It’s been a fantastic journey and one we’ll all remember as a family with genuine happiness. We couldn’t recommend the school enough and we’d like to wish everyone at HLPS all the best for the future.

I would like to thank you and everyone at Heyes Lane Primary School for making Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr so special for our children.  Thank you for facilitating the prayer facilities, for allowing us to come into school to deliver the assemblies and for the warm Eid wishes in the newsletter.  Hannah, when in year 1 said 'I don't want to be brown', what she meant by that is that she didn't like feeling 'different'.  Now in year 6 Hannah stands tall in who she is and what she is about, a British Muslim of Asian heritage.  This has been greatly aided by the amazing work the school has put into celebrating the diversity within the Heyes Lanes community. I am proud of the school my children attend, the culture within the school at every level is very open, warm and welcoming.  Thank you!

We are so pleased we selected Heyes Lane for our daughter. She is now in Year 2, and throughout her time here she has been so well cared for, encouraged and nurtured. What stands out most is how well her teachers truly know her as an individual - they celebrate her strengths, understand her personality, and gently support her to flourish. She comes home happy, confident and excited to learn, which says everything about the warm, caring environment the school creates. We are so grateful to the wonderful staff for the kindness, dedication and genuine care they show every child.
