Behaviour at Heyes Lane Primary School
Heyes Lane Primary School is committed to the socio-emotional development of our children and to creating an environment where exemplary behaviour is at the heart of productive learning. Therefore, our Relationships and Behaviour approach reflects a two-fold purpose:
exemplary behaviour and conduct and building relationships.
Everyone at Heyes Lane is committed to our 5 Values.
These are the foundations for shared behaviours and attitudes.
Everyone is expected to maintain the highest standards of personal conduct, to accept responsibility for their behaviour and encourage others to do the same. Staff teach self-discipline not simple compliance. It echoes our core values with a heavy emphasis on respectful behaviour, understanding and managing our own behaviour and developing a moral compass.
Building self-esteem and positive relationships with others are also a key features of our curriculum. We are committed to personal growth and to providing an environment where everyone can ‘Be the Best Me’
Discipline and exemplary conduct are underpin school life and we have high expectations of all pupils. There is a clear, shared understanding between all staff, parents, governors and children with regards to these high expectations. In order to create a positive school culture all staff positively reinforce appropriate behaviour.
Our School Rules
We have streamlined our ‘behaviour and conduct rules into three simple statements
- Hard working
- Safe
- Respectful
Children of all ages understand and can remember these and they are the common language throughout the school.
Building Relationships
Building positive relationships is key and all staff at Heyes Lane work hard to build and nurture positive relationships with the pupils. Warmth, attention and care feature throughout the school environment. We believe that this nurtures and feeds our pupils and provides them with effective and aspirational role models for adulthood.
